Bouquet

This is a picture of the lovely bouquet, I managed to win for Alli on ebay. I also managed to complete the veil well enough to take a picture for Alli. She has been worried that people are going to be laughing at her. I really can't see that happening but to stop her worrying, we posted the picture on facebook and she has had plenty of positive response.

I had to quite considerably shorten the sleeves on my jacket, which was not and easy task. I don't feel like I am experienced enough to make that kind of alterations and I'm sure it would have looked better if a professional had done it but I hope it look okay on the day. Lets put it this way; it looks heck of a lot better shortened than it did when the sleeves were below my finger tips, lol.

Can't believe how quickly time is flying by. At this rate it certainly won't be long for the big day. Yet, there is still a lot to do. Everyone has still not got their invites. My lovely wife-to-be likes to do things properly. She sends a hand-written letter with them as well. If you didn't get a letter then probably your invite was written by me and I apologise for that. I never write anything by hand cos I can't read it myself, lol and I'm not much of a letter writer anyway.

Countdown to Wedding

5 Weeks to the wedding, tomorrow. It's Alli's first and only wedding so I want things to be just right for her. I had a look at the list of things that still needs doing and really got worried. The "not going over the budget" is the worst part so, we are having to look for some alternatives.

Last night, I managed to get the bridesmaids flowers, the button holes and some flowers for the veil, on the ebay for under £4. I was well chuffed with that. I'm currently bidding on a gorgeous bouquet for Alli too and hope I can get it for a reasonable price. After that, the only flowers we need to worry about are the ones for the room but they don't need to be dear.

We have decided to use Sainsbury's platters for the daytime buffet and hope that the evening guests bring something for the evening buffet but it's not that necessary. We are after all staying within at least 10 takeaway places, of all sorts, so people wont starve.

Does anyone know how to calculate the amount of drink we need for the toasts? We have sent 35 invitations with a possibility of 72 guests (not counting children). How many bottles does that equate to? Pam, the landlady has kindly offered to lend us some glasses so that's one problem less to worry about.

We have finally decided on the cake. It will be 3-tier and we will get the actual cakes from Sainsburys and modify them to suit. Top and bottom layers will be traditional fruit cakes because, according to Alli, that's what people want, lol. Since I won't eat that, the middle layer will be a sponge and buttercream cake and I believe it will also go down well. If it doesn't then; poor me, I have to eat it all myself, lol.

There are still some minor adjustments to be done to our clothes. I believe the bridesmaids have got their dresses but we still need to get a suit for the best man. That's not going to be the easiest of tasks as he is not so easy to track down when we are free and is not so keen on shopping either.

Ah, ha, I forgot to mention transport. Aren't we the lucky ones? Alli and the bridesmaids are going to be chauffeured in style by Tracy and her lovely BMW. Tracy has agreed to put ribbons on it and give Alli and me a lift to the reception too. I hope we wont be covered in too much confetti, or she will regret this decision.

For those who don't know, Alli has been ordered, yes ordered, by her work mates to have a hen night. We have decided to have a joint one as the men weren't bothered about a "stag" night. This event which we are calling pre-wedding night, will be at the George hotel in Burslem, possibly the Saturday before the wedding, which would be the 5th. Anyone is welcome, whether they are male or female.
